Financial reporting

Financial reporting

Intro
Fisheries are Greenland’s most important industry. It has therefore been decided to collect data from those who land fish and fishery products, as well as from the factories that receive them. This data is used, among other things, for statistical purposes.

It is the responsibility of the GFJK to provide a self-service portal for citizens and businesses, as this is the only available method for reporting. Neither the GFJK nor the Ministry of Fisheries and Hunting accepts reports via email or physical mail; such submissions will not be considered valid reporting.

Accountant
Please remember that an authorized public accountant must validate the data before you report it. You can also have an accountant submit the report on your behalf if that is more convenient.

If an accountant is to perform the reporting, they must first be registered as an auditor in GFJK’s system. This is done by the accountant clicking ‘Log in’ on the reporting page. An error page will then appear with a message at the bottom where they can click ‘Click next if you wish to register as an accountant.’ The accountant must then fill in their details and will be notified once they have been registered with GFJK.

Once the accountant has been registered, they can request power of attorney to perform the reporting on your behalf. To do this, the accountant clicks ‘Request power of attorney,’ enters your details, and clicks ‘Request power of attorney.’ You must then log in to your own profile and approve the request. After this, the accountant will be able to complete the reporting.

Information
The reporting is divided into three parts:

  • Vessel information for offshore vessels and coastal shrimp vessels
  • Vessel information for coastal vessels over 6 meters (excluding coastal shrimp fisheries)
  • Fish processing plants and landing facilities

The information to be reported for vessels includes:

  • Vessel details
  • Fuel and employment
  • Catch volumes in tonnes, by species
  • Landings in tonnes, by species
  • Export volumes in tonnes, by species
  • Revenue, exports
  • Revenue, landing value
  • Other revenue
  • Costs

The information to be reported for fish processing plants and landing facilities includes:

  • Facility information
  • Employment
  • Purchased quantities in tonnes, by species
  • Production for export
  • Production for the domestic market
  • Export revenue
  • Domestic revenue
  • Other revenue
  • Costs

Deadline
The reporting deadline is no later than November 1st of the year following the landings. If you fail to report on time, you will receive a reminder from GFJK. If you have still not reported by the end of that month, a fine will be imposed.

Contact
The self-service portal is still relatively new. If you experience errors of any kind, please send us an email describing the issue in detail, preferably including screenshots for documentation.

If you are requested to report for a vessel or facility that you or your company do not own, please contact us. Similarly, if you wish to report for your own vessel or facility but do not have the option to do so, please let us know.

All inquiries must be directed to gfjk@nanoq.gl
